My name is Shevani Ramdin. I am originally from South Africa, but I am living in Australia now.
I have been a vegetarian for 18 years. I love all food, and I love cooking and experimenting in the kitchen and creating new recipes.
I work as a dentist. I am passionate about local, fresh, organic food. It is always best to support local farmers if you can’t grow it yourself! I am a food blogger too. I love showing others the wonders of food and what you can create with it.
My passion for food started from an early age. I was greatly influenced by my mother, Seetha. She was the best cook ever, and she loved all food. The way she expressed her love was through food. I learned so much from her and I would not be where I am today without her. Food has a way of bringing people together and creating a bond between them like it did with me and my mother.
This book is dedicated to my mum who unfortunately passed away a year ago.
I really hope that this book inspires people all over the world about food, just like my mum has inspired me about food. I really hope you try some of the recipes in this book and that it inspires you to get creative in the kitchen and try out some new foods.
Being vegetarian isn’t a mistake it’s just a missed steak. The recipes are a combination of food that I have learnt traditionally but I have added a modern flavor to it.
